While the advancement of technology has allowed for more mobility, it has also increased the distance between loved-ones. What hasn’t changed is our desire to keep up on family and friends.
Cemeteries are beginning to offer a new kind of headstone that will connect families worldwide. By combining traditional granite markers with newer barcode types of technologies, visitors to the cemetery can now scan a QR code that is embedded in the headstone with their smartphone or tablet to gather all sorts of information about the deceased.
Similar to a personal Facebook page, QR codes can direct you to a website that contains information you and friends add about your loved one, such as: an obituary, family heritage and history, photos, comments by friends and relatives and even links to share content on popular social sites such as Facebook or Twitter.
